Creating something for an instrument you don’t perform with always brings out inherent difficulties for a composer. While it would be ideal to say that every instrument is equally easy for an accomplished composer, some are inherently more difficult. Creating this trombone quartet was written for Cascade Trombone Quartet in Montreal, QC, but has since been performed by several different ensembles in the greater Montreal Area. The piece is meant to follow a great adventure, with twists and turns, a great escape, and the tranquility of safety, before returning to the run for one last hurrah.
