As I approached the end of my Masters at McGill University, I had set some sort of precedent upon myself to compose yet another piece for solo trumpet to cap off the performance. Originally the first movement was a stand alone piece, but as I continued to write, themes and ideas kept crying out to be given their own attention and space. This concerto was created in a little over two weeks and was one of the most thrilling and enjoyable pieces I have ever written. It is a tribute and a love letter to the trumpet and all that it means to the world of music.
