Originally written for trumpet ensemble, this piece is meant to reflect the experience of being a Jewish European person during the Second World War, and the confusing and terrifying experience of being taken from your home to a death camp via cattle car. The piece began being created after I took a trip to Auschwitz Birkenau in 2019, in an effort to learn more about my maternal grandmother and her past.
