Commissioned by a trumpet and saxophone duo in Montreal, this piece had been brewing in the back of my mind for years. While I am not altogether attracted to very post-tonal and abstract creations, the idea of a musical representation of a conversation has been enticing to me for a long while. When this opportunity came to me, I knew I would finally be able to try putting the ideas to the page. Two people, talking, trying to connect as usual, until something irks one of them. What starts as a small gripe turns into a cacophonous clash. The personality comes from the choices of the performers. If they want a happy ending or a sad one, there are separate pages for each.
